Sunwaves Festival is another precious festival of the Balkan and Romanian in particular, electronic music scene. It’s also known as the biggest techno festival on the Balkans. Its policy is focused around 3 simple but key factors: only quality techno and house music, long DJ sets and top notch sound, making it one of the most beloved and popular electronic music festivals, with a growing base of loyal followers. The festival takes place at Mamaia Nord Beach (Constanta, Romania).
The festival grows and that is vivid as bigger names in techno are getting on the line-up yearly, such as Ricardo Villalobos, Macro Carola, Richie Hawtin, Hector, Lee Burridge, Rhadoo, Jamie Jones, etc. It also manages to support 5 stages every year. Last year the festival became famous for the longest marathon live DJ set for 2015 with duration of 24 hours, played by Marco Carola, who also was the headliner of the event.
This year Sun Wave celebrated its 19th edition with the festival taking place from 28 April – 02 May 2016. More than 4 stages were included with Area B and Area A being the biggest arenas at SW. This year’s edition saw Zip, Rhadoo, Sonja Moonear and Ricardo Villalobos as the main acts at Area B. The prime slots at Area A were reserved for Seth Troxler, Marco Carola, Loco Dice and Guti. One of the headlines of the SW19 was the record setting, 31 hour B2B DJ set between tINI and Bill Patrick.
