Considered to be one oldest events for electronic music not only in Netherlands, but also Globally- Mysteryland Festival. It was founded back in 1993, and as a pioneer in the Dance Music festivals, for over two decades Mysteryland has given its visitors a magical journey, by combining music, art in all of its forms, nature, theatre, street and bizarre performers, and one of a kind performing stages. Mysteryland Festival is always on search globally, in order to find the artists and people giving the needed spark of light, colour and allurement to the festival.
The organisers of the festival always strive to bring excitement and entertainment to its guest by inviting the best international DJ’s and performers, but is also giving a platform to new and local artists to shine. Mysteryland Festival has also had a major role for the mass penetration of the electronic music in the early-mid 90’s in Western Europe.
The location of the festival has changed throughout years, being held in various cities such as Lelystad where the first edition took place, Rotterdam, Eindhoven, Utrecht and Amsterdam. Since 2002 the Mysteryland festival is being held at the Haarlemmermeerse Bos in the town Haarlemmermeer. Since then the festival is being held on the last Saturday of August. Since 2013 Mysteryland has expanded into a 2 day festival, increasing the unforgettable experience for its visitors.
ID&T the festival’s organizers have a strong philosophy for the main event they are organizing- Mysteryland. The have named it- Festival Soul. It is so, because they believe in organizing the festival in a sustainable and the cleanest possible way. Thus using environmental friendly materials throughout the festival is a must! In addition, the ID&T organizers are relying on local talent and networking, having a big focus on the community and the festival’s surroundings. Mysteryland has been awarded the Julie’s Bicycle (sustainability organization) with a 3 star Industry Green certificate (which is the highest achievement possible). The certificate has been granted to the festival, because of the reductiont of CO2 emissions, the amount of garbage waste, and the positive message it is spreading.
Mysteryland Festival the “10 000 Hours” Foundation
This foundation is doing everything to stimulate volunteering. Examples are a volunteering day that is being held every year by the 10.000 HOURS foundation in cooperation with Mysteryland and the continuous effort to make sure that artists will do some good for the environment as well.
Mysteryland Festival International
In 2011, ID&T expanded the Mysteryland festival by going abroad. The location they chose to do this was exotic Chile, South America. In 2014 Mysteryland expanded its vision and celebration of Love, Friendship, Sustainability all for the Music and Mother Earth, touching down in USA. And where else to do this, but the legendary Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, where the notable Woodstock was held back in 1969. The event took place on Memorial Day Weekend, in May 2014 and marked the first (hopefully of many to come) Mysteryland editions in USA.

HOW TO GET TO MYSTERYLAND FESTIVAL
By airplane– Amsterdam Airport Schiphol notably is one of the busiest and biggest airport hubs in the World. It is located 15km south-west of the city of Amsterdam. Netherlands national carrier is KLM, recently it merged with AirFrance. Together with Delta Air Lines, the three carriers offer their services to nearly every destination Worldwide. On the other hand the low-cost carriers going to Schiphol Airport are, Easyjet, Jet2, Transavia, among many other.
Eindhoven and Rotterdam Airports are an alternative option if you couldn’t book a flight to Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. A bus connects Eindhoven’s airport with the city’s train station (journey is about 25-30min and costs about 3 €). From there, with one of the regular trains, it will take you about 1.20hrs to Amsterdam (cost about 17 €).
From Rotterdam’s airport to the city’s Central train station, takes around 30 minutes and costs 2.50 €. From there a train to Amsterdam takes around an hour and costs 13.40 €.
By train– travelling by train with Eurostar, will cost you around 99euros and take about 5 hours for the destination London-Amsterdam. There are many different routes to choose from. For more information about journey destinations, prices, dates and timetables click here.
By car– There are several motorways leading directly to Amsterdam. A1 from the east- Germany. A2 from the south- Belgium. A12 from Arhhem (when you are closing Utrecht change to A2 northbound). A16/A27 from Antwerp through Breda is connecting to A2 south of Utrecht. A4 leads to Amsterdam from The Hague.
