Movement Festival is based in a pivotal place. Detroit…the so called “Birthplace of Techno”. The place, where the three Detroit city rooted icons of Techno, known today as the “Belleville Three”, started producing their own sound innovating Electronic Music, inspired by Kraftwerk, and Chicago’s House scene. What they ended up pioneering has continued to make people over the Globe dance, for the last 3 decades.
On Memorial Day Weekend, every year a very special event takes place. An event that truly represents Detroit city’s musical roots, combining everything from Deep or Techno House, to R&B, Rap, Jazz and Soulful Music. This event is called Movement Electronic Music Festival. It takes place at the Hart Plaza, which is situated on the Detroit River, out-bursting an incredible view surrounding the festival. Every year, in the end of May the downtown of Detroit city becomes one 3 day party marathon, with over 100 000 festival attendees.
What to Expect at Movement Festival
In the 2014’s edition of the festival, more than 120 DJ’sand artists have played on the 6 different stages, the event offers to its visitors. You can witness a diverse line up of acts and DJ sets, from the local underground scene to the Worldwide famous DJ’s. In addition to the musical paradise, Movement festival does not forget to bring to its visitors the Technology aspect of things. There is a specially designed showcase named the “Technology Area”, where you can find top professional DJ and Music production hardware, software and additional accessories, which people can try out and of course buy if they wish to.
In addition to the outstanding line up and of the festival, the party does not end with the performances at Hart Plaza. The pre-parties or after-parties indeed, are where people head towards prior to, or after the festival is over at midnight. The city of Detroit truly is a 3 day, 24h marathon for House Music. Memorable after-parties in 2014 include the likes of Tale of Us at City Club, Seth Troxler playing at The Annual Old Miamia, Maceo Plex B2b Michael Mayer at St. Andrew’s Hall (home to The Shelter, yes that same place where Eminem’s career took off) are to name a few.
We could continue writing, but perhaps at this point words are insufficient to describe well enough, what happens in downtown Detroit in the end of May! So for a final here is the Official Trailer for Movement Electronic Music Festival 2016.
